Thanks for the Birthday wishes, everyone!

You all made a long, tough day much easier to bear, and I really appreciate that.

Seems like my 23rd year might just be the best one yet (and by might, I definitely mean will).

How Mexican Drug Cartels are Making Your Margarita More Expensive

Fun story - had a bartender say he couldn’t make most drinks because he didn’t have limes since there was something going on in Mexico. Totally thought he was lying to get out of making drinks and just pouring stuff - I owe that dude an apology…

Katy Perry, Bastille, Drake, Florence and the Machine - Far From Over

So I had actually not heard Katy Perry’s “Unconditionally” before working on this one. My first listen to the song was just the instrumental track and I loved it and knew I wanted to do something with it.

SPOILERS: On the HIMYM Finale

People are confusing the timeline of the episode with the timeline of the show. In the episode, Tracy dies and Ted goes to Robin in like 5 minutes. In the show, it takes 6 years. Ted raises his kids through their teens on his own. He changes. In a lot of ways, he’s back in the position we found him in when the show began 9 years ago – at a very different point of his life than his friends. Robin is the same way – she’s back on her own and with her dogs in NYC. They both come full circle in their lives, and it makes sense to try it again.

Of course Ted always loved Robin – you don’t go through that much with someone and ever stop loving them. But love changes. They’re both at a place emotionally where they can be together again – and they hadn’t been there in about 20 years. I don’t agree with the idea a lot of people have been espousing today that Ted would have ever left Tracy for Robin, or even thought about doing that. Robin and Barney divorced before Ted and Tracy married, and it doesn’t seem to have affected their relationship at all.

The show is about Ted figuring himself out. He finally does – he has kids and gets married and gets his heart broken, and he’s able to get back up and keep living. There are entire seasons of the show where he’s basically not living, and you see at the end how he gets himself out of that rut. And he and Robin last this time – they’re married at all of the college reunions (Ted’s hair is gray, so he isn’t talking about Tracy when he talks about his wife). Ted once again finds himself in an awful situation that isn’t easy for anyone, especially him, to deal with, and he gets out of it and becomes happy again.

I think the finale captured love quite well – Marshall and Lily stay Marshall and Lily, Barney finally realizes what love is when he sees his daughter for the first time, and Ted finally figures out how to let love go so he can move on – even if moving on in this case looks a lot like moving backwards.

I’m going to miss this show.

"3D printed" titanium. All that intricacy came out in 1 piece - no assembly required. That’s the future, and it’s awesome.
